Alona & Matt's Big Fat Aussie, Russian, Finnish Wedding

When Alona and Matt came to view our property back in March 2022, they knew what they wanted. A property that could host all of their overseas family and friends, with a relaxed, but fun vibe. With friends and family spread out all over the world, finding a venue that could host everyone on-site meant they could spend more quality time with the people who had travelled to far to be with them.

Alona and Matt's wedding was a beautiful reflection of everything they love, shared with all their favourite people. The personalised touches made their wedding a unique Finnish-Russian-Aussie fusion.

Alona and Matt enjoyed a quiet moment together, and their 'first look was beautifully captured before their ceremony. There was a touch of old Hollywood glamour between these two, with Alona wearing a simple, elegant silk dress, and Matt opting for a tradition black tux. So gorgeous to see their reactions when they see each other for the first time, looking like a pair of rock stars.

The stunning florals designed by Bryleigh House were created using Australian natives including spectacular white King Proteas. In a classic palette of white, green and latte, the stunning bouquets and arrangements beautifully complimented the Australian bush setting.

Alona and Matt were keen for the celebration to begin as soon as guests arrived, so pre-ceremony bubbles were served by the lake. Alona walked down the aisle serenaded by her incredibly talented sisters, and with their little man Rueben almost stealing the show. Alona and Matt were married by the lake by celebrant Megan Thompson, in a beautiful heartfelt ceremony.

Alona's father, who travelled from Russia for their special day, lead a toast to his daughter and her new husband in traditional Russian style. Trays of ice-cold vodka shots adorned with pickles were handed out to guests to celebrate the newlyweds. "Na Zdorovie!'

In refection of Alona and Matt's favourite cuisine, dinner was served as an Asian buffet. Wanting to keep their reception relaxed and without format seating, they opted for 'fork food', where everything could be enjoyed standing and chatting, with no knives necessary.

Drinks were served throughout the night by Happy Little Hut caravan bar, with custom beers organised by Matt as a special surprise for Alona. Lawn games, festoon lights and outdoor furnishings made the most of the beautiful summer evening. Guests danced the night away as the incredible band 'Yo Mama', played all their favourite tunes, with a little cameo from Alona's Uncle adding another extra special touch.

A huge shout out to photographer Tess Follett for her incredible work on the day. A truly stunning collection of photos that have captured this fun, energetic and beautiful wedding.

After getting to know these two beautiful people for almost two years in the lead up to their wedding, it's always a little sad to say goodbye. We feel so incredibly lucky to help couples plan their weddings as our job every day. Love the love x.
